Formerly known as Ceylon, Sri Lanka is also called the Pearl of the Indian Ocean for its refreshing natural beauty. The history of the country is over 3000 years old with the ruins of the ancient kingdoms still standing in cities like Anuradhapura. Modernity isn’t too far away either with Colombo and Galle popular cosmopolitan destinations.</p>
Itinerary
On arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be welcomed and transferred to Kandy. Lying amidst the hills, Kandy is the last capital of the ancient kings of Sri Lanka. While being the second-largest city in Sri Lanka it is also famous for its immense beauty and is named as one of the seven UNESCO declared World Heritage sites in the country. With its luxuriant prairie, picturesque lake, Longest River of the country, and misty mountains, Kandy successfully mesmerizes every visitor unsurprisingly. Heavily jeweled with a rich and colorful history is witnessed through the numerous shrines and temples as well as frescoes, ancient paintings, and stone carvings. Sri Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. Kandy Lake, also known as Kiri Muhuda or the Sea of Milk, is an artificial lake in the heart of the hill city of Kandy, Sri Lanka, built-in 1807 by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe next to the Temple of the Tooth. Over the years, it was reduced in size. We will see Kandy marketplace, Kandy viewpoint & finally we proceed to Kandy city center. Kandy City Centre is a ten-story commercial and retail complex which is located in Kandy, Sri Lanka near the Temple of Tooth Relic.
Today you will set out on a unique culinary journey that will indulge you in a hands-on Sri Lankan Cuisine Experience. As a special guest, you will experience traditional Sri Lankan Lunch OR Dinner which includes Rice – Lentil (Dal) Curry - Fish/Chicken Curry – Sweet & Sour Mango/June plums curry – Jack Fruit/Breadfruit white curry – Gotukola Sambol & Sri Lankan Dessert. In the evening, we visit the Kandy Cultural Show, which offers a very vibrant and unique show of Sri Lankan traditional dances, in the form of a Kandy cultural show. Nuwara Eliya (City of Lights), blessed with salubrious climate, breathtaking views of valleys, meadows, mountains, and greenery; Surrounded by hills and tea plantations, the town of Nuwara Eliya enjoys spring-like weather throughout the year. It is also known as "'Little England" which was the favorite hill station of the British who tried to create Nuwara Eliya into a typical English Village. The old brick Post office, country house like hill club with its hunting pictures, trophies, and strict formal dinner attire; the 18 hole golf course, horse racecourse, etc., all remind you of 'England". Later we Visit Haggala Botanical Gardens, the garden has a cool temperate climate because of its altitude of 5,400 feet above sea level. The Hakgala gardens were established for the cultivation of the medicinal crop Cinchona. Afterward, it was used for Tea cultivation. In 1884 it was changed into a garden with many subtropical and tropical plants. The legendary Indian folktale “Ramayana” states that Sita, the wife of Rama, was abducted and imprisoned in this area by the Demon King Ravana. The Hakgala Garden was supposed to have been a pleasure garden gifted to Sita by the Demon King in an attempt to lessen her sorrow and at the time it is supposed to have been called Ashok Vatika.
Today after breakfast we transfer to Colombo. On arrival in Colombo, we proceed for a short city tour of Colombo. The Viharamahadevi Park is a public park located in Colombo, next to the National Museum in Sri Lanka. It is the oldest and largest park of the Port of Colombo Independence square. The Arcade Independence Square is a shopping complex housed in a group of renovated buildings including the former Jawatta Lunatic Asylum and the former Western Provincial Council Building. Shopping at ODEL BMICH, The Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall is a convention center located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Shopping at the house of fashion. Gangarama temple is one of the most important temples in Colombo, Sri Lanka, being a mix of modern architecture and cultural essence. Galle faces The Galle Face is a 5 ha ocean-side urban park, which stretches for 500 m along the coast, in the heart of the financial and business capital of Sri Lanka, Colombo. Old parliament The Old Parliament Building is the building that houses the Presidential Secretariat of Sri Lanka. Situated in the Colombo fort facing the sea, it is in close proximity to the President's House, Colombo.
